Calcutta, Oct. 19: Parimal Routh, 67, a state-level leader of the RSP died at Ranaghat State General Hospital this morning.
Routh was admitted to the hospital yesterday with high fever. The RSP leader died before he could be shifted to a city hospital today. Doctors suspect that Routh died of malaria.
Routh had played a key role in strengthening unity among Left Front constituents in Calcutta and other parts of the state. He was a member of the Calcutta district Left Front committee.
Routh had served as a member, mayor-in-council of Calcutta Municipal Corporation when Kamal Basu was mayor.
