Mystery shrouds the death of Santraj Singh, the 22-year-old manager of a wheat mill on Strand Road. Singh was murdered inside the factory on Monday night. The body, found with multiple injuries, has been sent for a post-mortem, said deputy commissioner of police, central, Zulfiquar Hasan.
Initial investigations revealed that Singh had been overseeing the city operations of the UP-based Govind Mills for the past few years. “Singh was in charge of marketing and distribution, and lived in a two-room flat on the factory premises,’’ Hasan added.
Local residents said they had spotted Singh moving around in the area with some friends on Monday evening. Police suspect that a brawl among the group might have led Singh’s friends to murder him.
Senior officials of the mill, who arrived in the city from Lucknow on Wednesday afternoon, told the police that Singh was a sincere employee and they had no complaints against him.
A few of Singh’s friends have been detained for interrogation.
