New Delhi, Sept. 30 (PTI): Union minister of state for commerce and industry Raman Singh today resigned from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government to assume leadership of the BJP in Chhattisgarh.
“I submitted my resignation to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today and I will now be taking full charge of Chhattisgarh’s BJP unit,” Singh said.
Singh was appointed head of the Chhattisgarh BJP two months ago. Another minister, Vasundhara Raje, who was appointed president of the BJP’s Rajasthan unit, is yet to step down.
Prem Bhai Mandavi, president of Rajnandgaon zilla parishad in Chhattisgarh, who had accompanied Singh, said she was asked to join the Congress and paid Rs 2.5 lakh.
