With winter comes the season of fests. Overcoming the hurdles of digital classes, reduced mobility, and mental health issues, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are back with their annual fests and have launched a recruitment drive for campus ambassadors from colleges all over India.

Here’s how you can be a campus ambassador. Guess what? You also receive uber-cool perks for being one.

Kshitij by IIT Kharagpur

IIT Kharagpur’s annual techno-management fest Kshitij will be held from January 21 to 23, 2022. From workshops and olympiads to guest lectures by industry experts, Kshitij will have them all.

Responsibilities: Campus ambassadors are expected to be the link between the event and their colleges, come up with innovative publicity strategies and help in curating events.

Perks: Performance-based incentives such as internship opportunities, free courses, discount coupons, free workshops, merchandise, letter of recommendation and more for the top performer besides certificate of completion from Kshitij, IIT Kharagpur.

Duration: 2 months

What happens after registration: Selected applicants will receive emails within a week of submitting their applications. Further instructions will be given through digital mode such as WhatsApp and Google Meet.

Organiser-speak: “Kshitij includes a variety of events such as guest lectures by eminent personalities, exhibitions by industry experts, workshops and industrial tours by leading tech and management firms, tech summits, competitions, olympiads, and case challenges. Campus ambassadors help in curating Kascad, a regional event conducted by Kshitij in association with various colleges of India. The date of this event depends on the academic schedule of the partner colleges,” said Shubham Saurav, a third-year Mechanical Engineering student who is the publicity head, Kshitij.

E-Summit, IIT Roorkee

Innovative minds across the country will gather for E-Summit from January 21 to 23, 2022, to exchange ideas and take part in various competitions ranging from productathon, finance-based competitions, hackathons, IdeaStorm and sessions by personalities on various revolutionary ideas.

Responsibilities: Campus ambassadors will be the face of the E-Summit in their colleges. They are responsible for networking and promoting the event as well as applying various digital marketing techniques to increase reach.

Perks: They will get a certificate from the ECell of IIT Roorkee for the completion of the internship, goodies based on their performance, LinkedIn endorsement, invitations to various workshops and sessions related to entrepreneurship and digital marketing by industry professionals and an internship opportunity with the start-ups that shall be participating in the summit.

Duration: 2 months

Who can apply: Any undergraduate and postgraduate student is eligible to apply for the Campus Ambassador programme. You should be active on social media platforms.

What happens after registration: Selected applicants will be contacted by the core committee members. WhatsApp shall be the medium of further communication and they will receive training as required.

Organiser-speak: “E-Summit primarily serves as a podium for furthering the spirit of entrepreneurship through various initiatives aimed at promoting the start-up ecosystem in the country. Campus Ambassadors will be using their skills to take the flag of the summit to their colleges and help increase the reach among the students,” said Rohini Choudhari, a third-year BTech in Mechanical Engineering student and co-convener of E-Summit’22.

Springfest, IIT Kharagpur

One of the largest cultural youth extravaganzas in eastern India, its legacy goes back over six decades. The fest has sharpened managerial and communication skills while refining those involved in its making by imbibing many soft skills. The 62nd edition of Springfest will be held tentatively from March 4 to 6, 2022.

Responsibilities: The day-to-day responsibilities include public relations, event management, representative of their colleges for Springfest, and publicity.

Perks: Spring Fest’s Campus Ambassador programmes offers prizes worth Rs 3 lakh to all selected participants, along with T-shirts, goodies, internships, and letters of recommendation.

Duration: 3 months

Who can apply: Any college student

What happens after registration: Selected participants will be notified via mail regarding their application status or they can check it on the official website. They will be further directed via mail or Whatsapp regarding their day-to-day chores.

Organiser-speak: “Ambassadors will get a chance to extend their professional network and orchestrate the execution of Springfest events. Be a representative of your college and work towards the betterment of society through this programme,” said Prateek Shah, a third-year Geology and Geophysics student, who is the media and public relations head, Springfest.

Wissenaire by IIT Bhubaneswar

This techno-management fest is on the lookout for zealous representatives who would help spread the brand name and bring in more participation. The three-day fest from January 28, 2022, promises to give exposure and a learning experience to each of the ambassadors.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of ambassadors will be to assist the core team of Wissenaire by promoting the event in their institution and among peers. They might also be required to do some miscellaneous networking. In return, the experience would help them improve their leadership abilities, communication, time management skills and networking capabilities.

Perks: Students will receive a Campus Ambassador programme certificate from Wissenaire, cash prizes as well as some exciting goodies for their performance.

Duration: Till February 7, 2022

Who can apply: This programme is open to students who are currently pursuing an engineering degree or an MBA.

What happens after registration: Applicants will be contacted by the Wissenaire team within two to three working days. You will be added to WhatsApp groups for further communication.

Organiser-speak: “The Campus Ambassador programme is one of Wissenaire’s most successful initiatives for developing leadership, communication, and management abilities among students. As one of India’s largest techno-management fests, we need to reach out to students from all over the country. We hire students as Campus Ambassadors to represent us in their respective institutions and showcase their talents to reach this goal,” said Kovela Akarsh Venkata Sai, a third-year Civil Engineering student of IIT Bhubaneswar who is the core head of Wissenaire’22.
