The countdown has started to Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is scheduled for July 9, and it will mark the company’s big summer showcase. Have there been new details about the upcoming event?
Everybody is sure the event will be about new foldable phones from Samsung. The company has, in fact, begun its pre-reserve offer of the next-generation Galaxy devices for customers in India.
The follow-ups to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 have to be good enough to take on all the foldable news coming from a few Chinese companies, like Vivo, which is preparing to launch X Fold5 on July 14. Samsung enjoys quite a few advantages over its rivals — better displays, better software experience and upgrade cycle and better service centre coverage, to name a few.
Who doesn’t like tech world rumours? First, there will be at least two new phones, probably called Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. There could be a third phone, a Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, which would be the top-spec device.
If there is a Fold Ultra, it may have a camera that matches the 200-MP snapper on the Galaxy S25 Edge. Who knows, it may even be the thinnest, lightest folding phone yet.
Since Galaxy S25 Edge has been a success with its slim chassis, a similar technology could be applied to the next fold.
So far, rumours point to some design changes but the bigger updates will be about performance. The company should present a number of new Galaxy AI features and these will be tuned to the big screen. Needless to say, a few of these AI features may make it to old Galaxy phones and devices.
Coming to the Flip, the follow-up to Galaxy Z Flip 6 may get a larger 4.1-inch cover screen, according to a post by Weibo user Setsuna Digital. There’s also a possibility for a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, according to tech blogger Evan Blass’ “leaked” photos.
The other devices expected at the event are the Galaxy Watch 8 and its ‘Classic’ counterpart… probably even a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Rumours suggest important updates to Watch 8, which may get a ‘squircle’ design, like the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s square-meets-circle aesthetic. The much-loved rotating bezel may also make a return. Once again, AI-powered fitness features could be coming to the Samsung Galaxy Watches. Lately, Samsung has been placing a lot of importance on health and wellness features. We are expecting a new set of these on the new watches.
Besides phones and smartwatches, it would be interesting to get some updates for Galaxy Ring or if Samsung decides to showcase its Project Moohan headset. After all, this is probably Samsung’s last big public event for the year, so expect plenty of information.
Meanwhile, pre-reserve your next Galaxy devices by paying a token amount of ₹2,000. Customers who pre-reserve will get benefits worth up to ₹5,999 on purchasing the next Galaxy. They will also be eligible for early delivery.
You can pre-reserve the devices by visiting Samsung.com, Samsung Exclusive Stores, Amazon.in, Flipkart.com and leading retail outlets across India.
Unpacked 2025 will stream live from Brooklyn, New York on July 9 at 7.30 pm IST.
