Star Superior, trained by Rajesh, also from the Narredus' clan, brought about a major surprise by winning the 2,400m Kingfisher Ultra Indian Derby at the Mahalaxmi raceground, Mumbai, on Sunday.
In the process of his victory, the Excellent Art-Ramjet bay roan colt, handed a crushing defeat to the two favourites in the 14-horse Derby field, the RCTC challenger, Adjudicate (A. Sandesh), and the odds-on favourite, Sir Cecil (David Allan).
It was a fast run race and the winner clocked just about one second outside the course record.
