More than 1,000 quiz lovers participated, with international participants logging in for the online quiz event

With more than 1000 quizzers participating in six quizzes over three days, University of Engineering and Management (UEM) Kolkata hosted the second edition of their annual quiz festival, JIGISHA 2023, which was a resounding success. Teams poured in from all over West Bengal to participate, including from districts such as Barasat, Asansol, Kalyani, Diamond Harbour, and Haldia. The fest was organised by Pragya, the quiz club of UEM, from 11 to 13 August 2023.

The inter-school quiz, Jana Ojana, which was the first of the six quizzes, saw participants from over 50 schools in the state battling it out. After 2 sets of written prelims and the on-stage finals, the quiz team of Barasat PCS Government High School was declared the winner. Friday Night Blockbuster, the open general quiz that was held online had quizzers log in from countries such as Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, Scotland, and many more.

“We have tried to exercise a lovely display of quizzing culture in our university and beyond. We hope that next year we'll grow even bigger in terms of participation and prizes," remarked Sabyasachi Ganguly, UEM alumni and Convener of JIGISHA 2023.
