“This edition of UEMMUN is very different from the previous ones. After two whole years, the eastern MUN circuit is getting back the charm of offline MUNs. We present to you one of the biggest democratic platforms on campus. UEMMUN 2022 will be held in hybrid mode for the very first time. For fellow MUNners, with ample zeal and an appetite for sharpening their consular skills, UEMMUN 2022 is just the right place. It is a platform to propose their resolutions and ace the MUN arena to make this experience count,” said Sohini Chakraborty, a third-year BTech in Electronics and Communication student, who is the secretary-general of the UEMMUN 2022.

So, if you are interested in current affairs, love presenting your case and are a regular MUNer, here’s your chance.

The four committees at UEMMUN 2022 are:

The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) was formulated keeping in mind strategies that can be used to promote disarmament or regulation of armaments. This would ensure global cooperative measures and the strengthening of international strategic alliances. The committee proceedings will happen at the campus.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will take care of the empowerment and uplift of women. It documents the reality of women and their living conditions. This helps in implementing women's rights awareness, educating women, and approving better schemes for equity establishment. Participants will be required to put forward their opinions from the venue.

Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is the third committee for the MUN and will take place virtually over Google Meet. Probably, much of the talk will be around the Russia-Ukraine war and evacuation. Delving into the various angles of the strategic decision, the SCO aims to resolve some extreme threats in the world around us.

Lok Sabha is the fourth committee. The Indian Lok Sabha first came into action in April 1952. Constituted by members elected by the citizens of India, the Lok Sabha maintains a balance in the legislation by passing bills that would ultimately become the law, serving people for the good. UEMMUN, for the first time, brings the Lok Sabha into action as one of its on-ground committees.
