The alumni association of Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College will be hosting its first-ever Reunion Mela 2023 on Sunday, 19 March 2023, from 3-7 pm at the college campus in Harish Mukherjee Road. A get-together event for all the alumni of the college will provide an opportunity to relive their old college days.
Throughout these years, the college has had several batches of successful women graduating in various fields of studies and marking their niches in their respective fields. With the ideas of Ms Sarala Ray, the alumni of the college decided to continue its legacy and formed the Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College Alumni association in 2014.
To celebrate the impact of the college on the lives of its alumni, the reunion’s theme is mela, which will showcase exhibition stalls on fashion, lifestyle, and food.
The Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College Alumni association provides a platform for interaction among past and present students along with their families, former teaching and non-teaching staff and their families to provide continuity between an inherited glorious past and a prospective future. Additionally, the society manages and receives endowments, donations, and properties.
Established in 1938, with the vision of empowering women through education, Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College has been one of the premier women’s colleges in Kolkata. Founded by Sarala Ray with inspiration from the progressive ideas of Gopal Krishna Gokhale, the college began its journey under the guidance of Dr S E Rani Ghosh to support women aspiring for higher education in Kolkata.
With passing years and under great educational leadership, the college has reached great heights in terms of offering various courses along with contributing to society by promoting equality, secularism, and national integration through education.
The college currently has 15 departments offering 16 courses.
The Alumni Association is delighted to organise this for the alumni of Gokhale Memorial Girl’s College and looks forward to having more members join this congregation to celebrate a legacy that lasts.
