DEVx 2023, the Annual Spring Fest cum E-Summit of Techno India University, West Bengal was organised by the Google Developers Students Club of TIU on 29 and 30 April 2023. Day 1 of the event was titled ‘TechXperience’ and Day 2 was ‘Tech-A-Break’. The club, formed in 2018 by a small group of 16 enthusiasts, today aims to help Google-based developer enthusiasts and young entrepreneurs through intensive sessions of training and workshops about emerging technologies.

About 200 students from TIU and beyond gathered at the conference hall to attend ‘TechXperience’. It was officially opened with the chief guest of the day, Mr Md. Fraz- Software Engineer at Google and one of the most popular sought-after educators of Data Structures and Algorithms. The core of his session highlighted the channels to crack software corporate interviews and their fundamental requirements.

Another presenter, Jyoti Mishra, Software Development Engineer at evertz.io and ambassador of Women Techmaker- a Google platform that empowers women in the field of technology, spoke on the objectives of Identity Access Management [IAM] in her session. “IAM is aiming to provide centralised access to different data processing applications. All accounts can be accessed in one place as that holds the capacity to identify the loopholes in applications' ', added Jyoti. Md. Nasirul Haque, Principal Engineering at TCS and Intel-certified software innovator and co-founder of Dynopii of Abhishek Nandy touched upon Internet of Things [IoT] and SYCL programming, respectively.

“As a student, I don't think we get to conceptualise the whole of technical theories through lectures, seminars and simply just by practising coding. People need to understand and visualise how professionals in the domains of technology and software or entrepreneurship have lived their journey. Events like DEVx 2023 help us understand the difficult grounds of the outputs that are rather easily accessed by us.” said Gaurav Ghoshal, 4th-year student of Computer Science Engineering at TIU and Lead of GDSC TIU.

The support pillar of GDSC TIU Prof. Ishan Ghosh, Academic Coordinator and Administrator at Techno India University praised the efforts of driving the idea of the fest into action while he managed the intellectual energy of the students. DEVx 2023, in its first edition, accentuated the much-cultivated career paths in the 21st century- Data Structure Algorithms and Digital Content Creation. The curation of the series of events defined the importance of DEVx 2023.

On Day 2, about 500 students from various institutes, including DAV School, Narula Institute of Technology, JIS University, gathered at the EZCC auditorium to be a part of ‘Tech-A-Break’. It kick-started with Mr. Anubhav Singh’s journey towards becoming a Google Developer Expert [GDE]. The chief guest of Tech-A-Break, Mr Atulya Kaushik, co-founder and CEO of PrepInsta - an Ed-Tech start-up that helps students for placement in the technical field - recounted his dream to be an entrepreneur since his college days. In another session, Mr Sayan Chakraborty explained several business strategies that he had deviced when founding WTF!- Where’s The Food. Mr Sourav Chakraborty, the founder and CEO of Sconto detailed his business idea that provides heavy discounts for University and College students in Kolkata and West Bengal via its app. Mr Amandeep Singh, Career Coach at PrepInsta and independent digital content creator, guided and advised students to understand the psychology behind content creation. The final session of DEVx 2023 was led by Indrajit Lahiri, the mastermind behind Foodka- a digital approach that encircles food from different regions.

Speaking about the session, Mr Sourav Chakraborty added, “There is no template for entrepreneurship. There are some ideas and its vision and some journey”. Likewise, all the speakers who attended DEVx 2023 stressed on not giving up on ideas.
