An educational trip was organized by St. Augustine's Day School, Shyamnagar on Tuesday, August 29, on behalf of the Bengali Department, to tap into the students' desire to learn beyond the four walls of the classroom, gain direct knowledge and connect with the heart. Students of classes X -XII of the Bengali department participated in this trip.

The destination of the journey was Kantalpara, Naihati, the birthplace of literary emperor Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, the originator of 'Vandemataram' music. Incidentally, this is the Bankim-Bhavan Research Center, a Saraswat Institution sponsored by the Higher Education Department of the Government of West Bengal. From the beginning, there was great enthusiasm and joy among the students. Finally, they reached the Bankim-Bhavan Research Center in Kantalpara, Naihati.

The team was welcomed by Mr Gautam Sarkar, Curator of Bankim-Bhavan Research Center and other members. The students were presented with literary works, family identity, historical landmarks and the importance of the literary emperor Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay very succinctly. After the speech, 48 students were divided into two groups of 24 and arranged to visit the Bankim museum, Bankim building and two buildings of the research center.

Students visited the Bankim-Bhawan laboratory where various memorials of Bankimchandra are carefully preserved. Adjacent to the auditorium building is an ancient Shiva temple, named after the famous Pancharatna Shiva temple. The students got acquainted with Bankimchandra's various works like 'Krishkant's Will', 'Vishabriksha', 'Anandmath', 'Devi Chaudhurani', 'Kapalkundala' and many more. All the students returned to the school premises with a rush of joy, enthusiasm and zest for life.
