For some photography is not just a means of livelihood or a hobby that they take up as they grow. For some, photography is a medium of expressing their deepest desires and bringing their fantasies to life. Mohammad Murad is one such photographer who believes in expressing his blessings and dreams by the most profound means of photography.

Mohammad Murad exclaimed how much he loves Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography, which gives him the approach to bring a new touch and artistic angle to his expressions. To put his thoughts into words, we can say that he has an inside desire to photograph in slow shutter as something about it just fascinates him. For him it’s not about the panning technique here but about the reinventing of the scene by adding a touch of mystery to it, and representing himself by means that to reflect his inner self as well as his characteristic traits.

He expressed his relationship with the Intentional Camera Movement and the audience that admires his pictures by saying, “It’s like when a violinist plays his melody in his own way to express something inside him, maybe a feeling — a happy or a sad feeling. Maybe you will not understand or like his melody, or perhaps you will. But that won’t affect the violinist at all. He just wants to be heard and will leave the interpretation to the audience.” These words though simple are sublime with the understanding of Murad’s vision. Mohammad Murad at one end tries to bring the best for enhancing his photography but to earn the admiration and respect of the people he never deviates from his goal which is to bring out his inner self and not what the world wants to see. Whether appreciated or not, his work will always be art for him, the art that illustrates his own personality into pictures, and thus, this belongingness that he has with the people and himself makes him one of the most appreciated artists.

Intentional Camera Movement Photography uses the slow shutter technique in the camera which simulates drawing or sketching using crayons or pencil. This then gives each painting or image a special mood or feeling. It is like a different world is created for each click. Mohammad believes that taking a still photo with a great composition is wonderful, of course, but a little bit of motion in the image makes the viewer feel that the animal or the bird is doing something. This creates perfect imagery in which a sense of life is deeply embedded.

Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography is an abstract style of shooting that has no rules. The core of this style of photography is all about moving the camera over a long exposure. The continuous moving of the camera leaves no context for the picture and this, in turn, becomes one of the main reasons for abstract photography to be both interesting and challenging for the photographer.

Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography is hard to describe due to its abstract nature and peculiar yet open-ended techniques. Every part of the photograph is ambiguous and cannot be explained to anyone. The photographs are open to interpretation of the people and the abstractness makes every person draw a different meaning of it. Murad while talking about the eccentricity of the photographs said, “Never explain a photo to anyone. Leave those who want to understand it to investigate and do not prevent those who want to find a mistake from finding it.” Therefore, it’s one’s own vision that makes a photograph special or ordinary to them.
