Situated at a height of 6,889 metres, Mt Khangchengyao is considered as one of the most challenging peaks because of steep climbs, vertical ice walls, freezing temperatures and rarefied atmosphere.

Army sources said that the expedition was planned as part of the celebrations to commemorate the golden jubilee of the 1971 war.
