Justice Sujoy Paul appointed Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court

Justice Sujoy Paul was on Wednesday appointed as the chief justice of the Calcutta High Court.

He has been officiating as the chief justice of the court since October 2025.

His name was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for elevation on January 9.

Justice Paul hails from the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He was appointed as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in May 2011 and will retire on June 20, 2026, upon attaining the age of 62 years.
