Eight macaws were rescued on Thursday while they were allegedly being smuggled from Bangladesh, a BSF officer said.

BSF officers posted along the India-Bangladesh border near Tentulberia, in North 24-Parganas, rescued the birds, which were crammed into wooden boxes. The birds have been sent to Alipore zoo.
