“The protests against cut-money started spontaneously after Mamata Banerjee’s comments on the issue on June 18. But the protests have waned following the Didi Ke Bolo campaign…,” said a BJP source.

Sources in the state BJP said a meeting on August 16 would chalk out the agitation programme.

The chintan baithak also discussed the strategy for the 2021 Assembly polls. “We aim to win all Assembly segments in the 18 parliamentary seats we bagged this year and in the three Lok Sabha seats — Arambag, South Malda and Krishnagar — that we lost marginally,” a BJP source said.
