The series revolves around Apurba, an insurance agent whose life revolves around fulfilling the basic needs of his family. His world takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious stone enters his life, seemingly bringing luck and prosperity. However, this newfound fortune comes at a heavy price, forcing Apurba into a moral dilemma where he must choose between his values and the harsh realities of life. As the story unfolds, Ichchepuran explores the fragile nature of human ethics when faced with temptation and the true meaning of fulfilment.

The screenplay, written by Padmanabha Dasgupta, adds emotional depth and narrative richness to the story. Sharing his perspective, Padmanabha Dasgupta said, “While sketching the characters, I focused on making them deeply human — flawed, vulnerable and relatable. Each character represents a different response to desire and conflict, which makes the narrative layered and emotionally engaging.”

Ichchepuran reflects the timeless human conflict between desire and consequence, rooted in a narrative that is both relatable and thought-provoking. At Platform 8, we are committed to portraying stories that go beyond entertainment to spark reflection and emotional connection. Releasing this series on Poila Baisakh makes it even more special, as it marks a new beginning with a story that questions choices, values and the true cost of fulfilling one’s wishes,” said Priyanka Bardia, director, Platform 8.

Ichchepuran follows the journey of Apurba, an ordinary man striving to meet daily targets while finding happiness in the simple joys of family life. The story takes a dramatic turn when he discovers a mysterious stone which transforms his fortunes, but at a high cost. As events unfold, Apurba is forced to confront difficult choices that challenge his values and beliefs. Every character in the series has been thoughtfully crafted, and we hope to bring audiences a story that feels both unique and deeply engaging,” said Haranath Chakraborty, director.

“In Ichchepuran, I portray Apurba, a devoted family man whose world revolves around fulfilling the basic needs of his loved ones. When life presents him with an unexpected opportunity that alters his destiny, it also brings unforeseen challenges, leaving him conflicted and vulnerable. The journey of this character is layered and emotionally intense, and the story itself is rare and unconventional,” said Debraj Bhattacharya.

“In Ichchepuran, I play a devoted wife and mother whose life is centred around the well-being of her family. As circumstances begin to change, her world slowly unravels, bringing emotional strain and hardships. She witnesses a painful transformation in the man she loves, which deeply impacts her journey,” said Ishani Sengupta.
