Trina Saha explores the versatile and on-trend denim, in an enthralling lookbook

A t2 chat with Trina on everything she loves about denim

This look is a nod to understated minimalism. A halter-neck top from Zara was paired with classic high-waisted skinny jeans from Vero Moda, creating a clean, unfussy interplay between structure and ease.

Trends may come and go, but few wardrobe staples evolve as effortlessly as denim. Raw one moment, refined the next, it moves fluidly across moods and silhouettes. From jackets and shirts to shorts, timeless trousers, jumpsuits, and skirts, what makes denim enduring is its opennness — it absorbs styling shifts, shifting character through layered experiments, unexpected pairing, always shaped by the wearer’s instinct to push it a little further. Ultimately, denim belongs to everyone — across generations, across styles, across time.

Conceived by designer and stylist Soumya Nandy, actor Trina Saha steps into a series of denim moods and interpretations, exploring its versatility in this shoot for t2.

Which look from the shoot felt closest to your personal style?

I think the second look — the denim-on-denim moment. The one where I’m wearing a crop top with a cap. It’s incredibly wearable and versatile. You could wear it to brunch, for an evening film with friends, or even style it up for a night out. What I loved most was that it struck the perfect balance between comfort and glamour. It felt effortless but still very fashion-forward.

Which styling direction did you enjoy embodying the most, and why?

I really enjoyed the final look — the golden metallic top paired with a skort. What made it especially interesting was the way we conceptualised the shoot. We photographed it outside a bathroom space, which felt unexpectedly modern and relatable. Usually, when people are out partying or spending a late evening with friends, that mirror area outside the restroom almost becomes a moment in itself — for selfies, touch-ups, candid photographs. It’s such a familiar social ritual now. I thought translating that into a fashion editorial setting was very clever because it’s not something people typically explore in shoots. That realism made it feel fresh.

In your opinion, what makes a denim outfit look effortlessly stylish rather than overdone?

I think denim itself has that quality naturally. The colour blue is universally flattering — it works across ages, genders and personal styles. A young girl can look incredibly smart in denim, and equally, a 60-year-old woman in a beautifully styled denim outfit can look just as striking. That’s what makes denim timeless. It adapts to everyone. You can wear it as a dress, as separates, as outerwear — there are no rules. I’ve even experimented with a denim corset blouse styled with a sari, and it worked beautifully.

Is there a denim trend you’re currently loving or one you’d like to see make a comeback?

The trends I loved are already returning. Bell-bottoms and loose-fitted denim silhouettes — very reminiscent of the ’80s and ’90s — are having such a strong revival right now, and I absolutely love that. I think people should experiment with denim blouses paired with cotton saris. It creates a really interesting contrast between structure and softness, and can look incredibly chic when styled well.

What does your everyday denim dressing usually look like?

Very relaxed, honestly. Loose denim shorts or oversized jeans paired with a tank top or a classic white T-shirt is usually my go-to look. It’s easy, comfortable and something I always feel confident in.
