After the successful run of Sonar Kellay Jawker Dhan in the theatres, filmmaker Sayantan Ghosal will be back in the theatres this week with another mystery movie. The thriller Madam Sengupta releases in theatres tomorrow. The film intertwines clues from Sukumar Ray’s renowned literary work Abol Tabol with a mother’s relentless pursuit of justice for her daughter. A separation that happened years ago, past traumas, and the complexities of politics and power combine in the trailer to create suspense for the audience. Produced by Nandy Movies, Madam Sengupta boasts an ensemble cast, including Rituparna Sengupta, Rahul Bose, Ananya Chatterjee, Koushik Sen, Kharaj Mukherjee, and Subrata Dutta, among others. The trailer, launched at Acropolis Mall on Saturday, attracted a large crowd.

Rituparna Sengupta, who will be seen portraying the role of a resolute mother in Madam Sengupta, posed with Anupam Roy, who has composed the music in the film. "Who is not intrigued by Abol Tabol? We all are. Madam Sengupta is a film that has a lot to offer to the audience — mystery, love, murder and a lot more," said Rituparna. Anupam said: "Shilpa (Rao) is a fantastic singer. We have been friends for a long time... and we had been trying to collaborate, but couldn't manage to. Finally, in this film we did. I have sung the same song in a male version. The film has only one song. It is a song which tries to capture a moment of separation in the film and is called Jete dao."
