Dev Entertainment Ventures has unveiled the much-anticipated teaser of Dhumketu, starring Dev and Subhashree Ganguly. Signalling the return of this hot favourite screen duo who have delivered several blockbusters, the teaser suggests that besides exploring a romantic angle, the film, that was shot nearly a decade ago, promises to take viewers along on an unforgettable, perilous adventure.
The 80-second-long teaser overwhelms at first glance, featuring a mind-boggling concoction of breathtaking locations, a power-packed ensemble cast and heavy-duty action. Full of mystery and intrigue, it introduces Dev as a fugitive on the run from the authorities for nine years.
In all probability, he will play the role of a former military man or secret agent, who is assumed to be a traitor to his country. The plot is obviously expected to revolve around how his character sets out to settle scores with those who have defamed him, thus managing to prove his innocence and his patriotism. Also billed as an unfinished love story, audiences can look forward to his character’s romantic reunion with Subhashree’s character, whom he had married and who has waited for his return all these years. The chemistry between the pair appears to be as dreamy and delightful as ever, evoking nostalgia about their past romantic hits. The teaser also bears evidence of a few romantic songs featuring the two; and with Anupam Roy at the helm of affairs as far as Dhumketu’s music is concerned, fans can also expect some sensuous and melancholy love songs in Roy’s signature style in its soundtrack.
A striking aspect of the teaser of Dhumketu is that, besides his familiar look as a strong and rugged hero, it also depicts Dev in the never-before-seen avatar of an old man. Perhaps a disguise that his character puts on to conceal his true identity from his enemies, this look is sure to create a buzz among his fans. Marking a clear departure from his image as a tough guy, a simpleton or a typical romantic hero, his formidable new appearance will surely be one of the reasons that will pull audiences to the theatres.
Rest assured, Dev’s fans can anticipate both heroics and histrionics aplenty from the star actor in Dhumketu, as he goes about laying bare the evil designs of those who framed him and subsequently redeems himself in the eyes of his countrymen. Rudranil Ghosh, Parambrata Chatterjee and Chiranjeet Chakraborty are also glimpsed briefly in the teaser, and are expected to play pivotal roles in this exciting, action entertainer. Written and directed by Kaushik Ganguly, Dhumketu, which has a distinct patriotic flavour, will hit theatres on August 14, just ahead of Independence Day weekend.
