The teaser of the upcoming film Mon Maaney Na attracted attention for its young, adorable romantic pairing and its exploration of modern, unconventional forms of relationships. Starring Ritwik Bhowmik and Hiya Chatterjee as the lovers, the movie has generated fresh excitement among fans with the release of the first single from its soundtrack.

Tracing the blossoming of a beautiful romance between the lead duo, the fun and peppy track titled Ke tumi nandini 2.0, is a contemporary reimagining of the classic Manna Dey original, immortalised in the 1969 film Teen Bhubaner Parey featuring Soumitra Chatterjee. Designed as a foot-tapping, college dance anthem, the modern version aims to bridge the divide between the past and the present by adding a contemporary pulse to the much-loved and extremely popular earlier version, which is steeped in nostalgia. Prominently including the legendary original voice of Manna Dey, the new vocals of the song have been provided by singers Nikhita Gandhi and Subhadeep Pan, adding a Gen Z edge to the melody and creating a dynamic, youthful vibe to which young listeners of today can easily resonate with. A rap element by Doktor G, on the hazards and flip sides of falling in love in the present era, adds to the song a fun and easy-going, though ironic touch.

Redefined and recreated to a large extent by Nilayan Chatterjee, the music and lyrics of Ke tumi nandini 2.0, besides underscoring the ideas of love as it is understood by the present generation, also help to outline the personalities of the characters of the two young lovers, Rahul (Ritwik) and Bidisha (Hiya). Revealing to viewers the contrary natures of the pair, its video, set in a college campus, also depicts how the two, who are poles apart with respect to their attitudes to romance and relationships, fall in love. While Rahul is portrayed as a youth with a flamboyant, casual attitude, and one who flirts easily with every girl he meets, Bidhisha is seen as a hopelessly romantic person, who dreams of an old-fashioned, fairytale romance. Initially disinterested and unwilling to pay attention to his advances, the video shows how she gradually warms up to him, allows herself to be won over by his charms and is completely enamoured of him by the time the song ends.

As seen in the teaser, the chemistry between Ritwik and Hiya is cute and innocent. In this song, they also share a powerful on-screen dynamic and are clearly enjoying themselves playing a romantic couple, a fact that promises to be central to the appeal of the film. Uninhibited in their body language and articulating deep passion and emotion through their expressions, the pair look great as a romantic couple in this song, which is definitely going to be a popular addition to party playlists this season. With some explosive street-dance style footwork by the handsome Ritwik, that is matched in intensity and ardour by Hiya, Ke tumi nandini 2.0’s choreography adds more vitality to this groovy, energetic dance number celebrating love.

Mon Maaney Na, directed by Rahool Mukherjee and also starring Soumya Mukherjee, Rukmini Maitra, Saswata Chatterjee and others in key roles, has a February 13 release date.
