Tata Passenger Electric Mobility has just rolled out its biggest and most powerful electric vehicle, the Tata Harrier.ev. This is also its first quad-wheel drive EV and is claimed to hit 100kmph from zero in 6.3 seconds, which is possibly the quickest in this segment. Going by the feature list, it is also quite well appointed. Available in four colours, the Harrier.ev starts at an introductory price of 21.49 lakh at the showroom.

It is largely similar to the Harrier powered by the internal combustion engine but modified to accomodate the battery and motors for the electric powertrain. It comes loaded with lots of features as well. There are two motors, one producing 158ps (116 kW) at the front, and another at the back delivering 238ps (175 kW). However, the maximum power output is not a simple sum of the two as they do not deliver peak power at the same time. The peak torque is 504Nm torque from the dual-motor setup. The battery capacity is 75kWh and has a 250km range with a 15-minute charge.

Introducing the Tata Harrier.ev, Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said: “With the launch of Harrier.ev, we are not just introducing a new electric SUV or challenging convention —we are rewriting the rules of what’s possible.... Built on the cutting-edge acti.ev+ architecture and powered by a robust QWD that generates the highest torque and unleashes fastest acceleration ever seen in an Indian SUV, the Harrier.ev redefines performance.

“This commanding power is paired with a suite of first-in-world and segment-first luxuries, including a display by Harman, powered by Samsung Neo QLED, immersive Dolby Atmos acoustics, and a revolutionary 540° surround View system that eliminates blind spots — even beneath the vehicle.”

The Harrier.ev comes with a range as tested of 622km with the 75kWh battery.
