Hoichoi has announced its upcoming original thriller series Anusandhan, directed by Aditi Roy and headlined by Subhashree Ganguly. The streaming platform unveiled a gripping video teaser recently.

Earlier this month, Subhashree joined singer Shaan during his Infinity Tour 2025 concert in Calcutta to launch the first poster of the series, giving audiences an initial glimpse into the dark, mysterious world of Anusandhan.

Set to premiere on November 7, Anusandhan unfolds inside a women-only prison, where inmates mysteriously become pregnant — despite the complete absence of men. Subhashree plays a journalist who sets out to uncover the unsettling truth behind this inexplicable phenomenon.

The series promises an intriguing blend of suspense, emotion and psychological drama, as it explores the fine line between reality and the supernatural.

In the announcement video, Subhashree appears in a deep blue kurti paired with a white salwar and maroon stole, her kohl-rimmed eyes and curls adding to her reporter persona. “How is it possible for women to get pregnant in an all-woman jail?” she asks two women constables, before walking through what appears to be the Alipore Jail interiors. The background music is eerie and inquisitive. The clip ends on a chilling note — as she comes face to face with a woman hanging inside a cell. As the woman slowly turns towards her, she realises — with chilling disbelief — that she’s staring at her own reflection.

A glimpse of Anusandhan was also included in a video released as part of Hoichoi’s Utshober Notun Golpo rollout of shows. In the clip, Subhashree is shown in the same chilling position that closes the series’ announcement video — hanging inside the prison. She is seen enduring torture and confronting a cop, played by Sagnik Chatterjee, with the line, “The smell is coming from your completely rotten system.” The clip also features Shaheb, probably playing a politician or bureaucrat.

The poster features a collage of newspaper clippings claiming that inmates of a women’s prison were found pregnant, alongside a microphone marked ‘Eyewitness News’ with the tagline “Truth is our religion.”

Anusandhan marks Subhashree Ganguly’s second collaboration with Hoichoi after her acclaimed OTT debut in Indubala Bhaater Hotel (2023), directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya. Aditi Roy returns to the platform with this dark investigative thriller that promises to blur the lines between fact, faith and fear.
