After a few safe releases, Redmi has delivered a phone that feels genuinely fun again, both in how it looks and how it performs. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ shapes up as the most premium device in the Note series yet, combining fast charging, strong everyday performance and a surprisingly refined design.
Design is where the phone immediately scores points. The vegan leather back and quad-curved display lend it a distinctly upmarket feel, and the in-hand experience is excellent. Redmi’s Coffee Mocha colour, in particular, feels like a quiet flex: tasteful, distinctive and far removed from the loud finishes that dominate this segment.
Durability is another key pillar. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the phone carries an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, in addition to IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings. Redmi also claims an SGS five-star certification for drop resistance.
The camera setup is led by a 200MP HPE sensor, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. On the front sits a 32MP selfie camera. In early use, the main sensor captures detailed images, and even at 4x zoom, photos retain an impressive amount of detail. Skin tones are handled well, while HDR processing consistently lifts results across the main, ultra-wide and selfie cameras. Colours skew slightly punchy, which is likely to appeal to most users.
Portrait shots appear clean, with reliable edge detection and natural background blur, though you are limited to 1x and 2x focal lengths. The 8MP ultra-wide camera performs better than expected for the price, with HDR again doing much of the heavy lifting. Low-light photography from the 200MP main camera also looks promising, helped by improved post-processing.
Video recording tops out at 4K at 30fps from the main camera, with passable stabilisation. The ultra-wide is capped at 1080p at 30fps, while the selfie camera can shoot 1080p at 60fps.
Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, built on a 4nm process, paired with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage (256GB or 512GB). Xiaomi appears to have tuned the chipset well: everyday tasks feel effortless, and the CPU shows no obvious signs of throttling.
This is not a phone aimed at competitive gamers, but for casual gaming and general use, it holds up comfortably. Xiaomi IceLoop cooling system helps keep temperatures in check even under sustained loads.
Battery life is another area where the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ makes a strong early impression. The 6,500mAh battery supports 100W wired charging, along with 22.5W reverse charging. In day-to-day use, the phone comfortably stretches across two days on a single charge, depending on usage.
One of the highlights is the display: a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3,200 nits of peak brightness and 3,840Hz PWM dimming. Colours look pleasing, skin tones are rendered naturally, and outdoor visibility is excellent. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are supported, including on Netflix.
There are, however, a couple of early quibbles. The phone ships with Android 15, and while Redmi promises four years of software updates and six years of security patches, the absence of Android 16 out of the box is noticeable. There is also the familiar issue of preinstalled apps. Most can be deleted, but the question remains: why are they there at all?
On the software side, HyperOS 2 offers fluid animations and supports several AI features such as Eraser, Image Expansion and Sky Changer, alongside Google Gemini and Circle to Search.
At this stage, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ (retail price is upwards of ₹37,999; launch price upwards of ₹34,999) presents itself as a phone with responsive everyday performance and a camera setup that shows encouraging signs, pending deeper testing.
