AI startup Perplexity has expanded its feature set in India with Perplexity Finance. Across desktop, mobile web, and mobile apps, all users of the platform will have access to live stock prices for BSE and NSE, explanations of notable price movement, historical data downloads, live earnings, and more. The company said the usage of Perplexity Finance has increased eight times since this spring.

If you are wondering how to use Perplexity Finance, it’s quite simple. For example, look for “Reliance stock” or “what’s Tata’s stock price” and you will be given detailed live stock information in Perplexity. Users can also visit the Perplexity Finance homepage to see an overview of the markets, find specific stocks or cryptocurrencies, view company financials and historical data, and track company earnings.

The platform delivers real-time data for free to all users, and the company said that much of the information you find here exists behind a paywall on other platforms — such as historical price and volume data, natural-language stock screening, and live company earnings. Perplexity is offering all of it free.

AI can play an important role in speeding up your financial research, helping you keep up with market news, corporate filings, and new trends.

Perplexity Finance is for anyone who wants to follow the markets, whether that be casually checking in on stock prices via a Perplexity search or downloading historical financials. To use, you don’t need a finance or fintech background.

Some of the key features, at a glance, are live stock price widgets in answers, country toggle for India markets and US markets (defaults to India for Indian users), market summary and latest news, creating a watchlist and see a quick view of your watchlist’s price movement, and search for tickers across equities, crypto, commodities, indices, and ETFs.

Perplexity, led by Aravind Srinivasan, is in the news for making a $34.5 billion unsolicited all-cash offer for Alphabet’s Chrome browser. The bid is far above the company’s own valuation.
