Written in the 1960s, Pagla Ghora (The Mad Horse) fearlessly rips into layers of male hypocrisy, emotional suppression, and social pretence. More than 50 years later, its relevance still kicks hard, and director Sekhar Das is busy directing it for the big screen. The film is a heartfelt tribute to Badal Sircar on his birth centenary. With his deep roots in experimental theatre and a sharp cinematic vision, Das plans to retain the raw intensity of the play while breathing fresh visual life into it.

The film stars Gargee Roychowdhury, who’s known for lighting up the screen with emotionally rich performances. She leads a top-tier ensemble cast including Rajatava Dutta, Sujan Mukhopadhyay, Chandreyee Ghosh, and Rwitobroto Mukherjee, among others, each actor poised to bring the play’s complex characters into sharper focus.
