Team Mitin — Ekti Khunir Sandhaney got together to unveil the trailer and launch the music of the third film in the franchise at the Heritage Institute of Technology on December 16. The trailer revealed glimpses of Koel Mallick returning as the formidable Mitin in thrilling, action-packed scenes. Hinting at intricate layers of mystery, the trailer unfolds a gripping story revolving around the murder of a wealthy womaniser, and a determined female detective who is central to uncovering the truth.
“We didn’t expect to have Ajoy uncle (Chakrabarty) and Chandana aunty (Chakrabarty) for our trailer launch. Our day became more special with their presence. Jeet Gannguli had composed many popular tracks for my earlier films but his music in this film is completely different from that. What I like about Mitin is her multi-dimensional personality — she is a homemaker as well as an investigator. She is very intuitive, too. It is a dream role for an actor. The love of the audience made us reach the third film. And thanks to Ajoy uncle for convincing Chandana aunty to sing for us,” said Koel, looking elegant in a white jamdani sari.
“Jeet (Gannguli) and I loved making Armaan (Khan) sing for this film. Arunita (Kanjilal) has done a great job in the way she expressed the thoughts of the lyrics through her singing. We don’t understand how important some stalwarts are when they are very close to us. We need to see them from a distance sometimes to realise how tall they stand. Ajoyda is one such person who took our culture to the world through his music, and so did Chandana boudi. When I called him to ask whether it would be possible to have Chandana boudi sing a song for our film, he asked me how I had heard Chandana boudi’s songs. My habit of listening to music made me stumble across her songs on YouTube. There are very few as great as her,” shared Arindam Sil.
Complementing the film’s suspenseful allure is the diverse musical score, crafted by music director Jeet Gannguli and his team. “I wanted to work with Arindamda for a long time. I loved working on this film, especially because the director understands music so well. The suggestions he had for the antara brought tears to my eyes. He drew pictures to help me understand a song sequence. Lyricist Sutapa, Prasen and my better half Chandrani did a great job, too,” said Jeet Gannguli.
During the event, three songs were launched: Dine dine, Theher jao, and Saiyan. The renditions by Chandana Chakrabarty, Armaan Khan, and Arunita Kanjilal brought the event to a close on a melodious note. Mitin — Ekti Khunir Sandhaney releases today in the theatres.
