Foldables are everywhere, so why not in a gaming handheld? The Legion Go Fold Concept is a Windows-based handheld featuring a flexible POLED display, detachable Joy-Con-like controllers, and a folio case.

When folded, a 7.7-inch screen sits between two halves of a controller, but it can unfold into an 11.6-inch display that can be used vertically or horizontally. When unfolded, the controllers can be repositioned on all four sides.

In vertical split-screen mode, users can have a game on one half of the screen and a second window — such as a chat or game guide — on the other. Horizontal full-screen mode gives the game the full 11.6 inches of real estate in a 16:10 aspect ratio.

The controllers are similar to those on the Nintendo Switch 2, with the option to detach them or attach them to a separate grip. The display can also connect to a magnetic keyboard setup, creating a tabletop laptop-style configuration.

The concept device comes with top-of-the-line specifications: an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V Lunar Lake processor, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a 48Whr battery. The display has a resolution of 2435 x 1712 and a 165Hz refresh rate.

Lenovo’s concept devices often make it to market, but this one is unlikely to arrive anytime soon. Some concepts have taken more than a year to materialise, and they are not always identical to the original prototype. With component pricing rising sharply, it is unclear how much a production-ready Legion Go Fold would cost if it were released in a year or more.

Still, it feels like a natural step forward for handheld gaming. If enough people respond positively to the idea, it could encourage Lenovo to refine the design and bring it to market.
