Haranath Chakraborty’s new series Ichchepuran is set to stream on Platform 8 from August. Ichchepuran follows Apurba, a modest LIC agent living a hand-to-mouth existence with his loving wife Aparna and their young son Bilu. He stumbles upon a mysterious stone named Asei Nirenirum and Apurba’s fortunes change. His client base explodes overnight, his income surges, and the once-anonymous agent becomes a name taken in awe and curiosity. But blessings often come cloaked in curses. Apurba soon realises a chilling pattern: each new policyholder meets an untimely death shortly after their policy is issued, triggering massive payouts. Rumours swirl, drawing both desperate families and dangerous opportunists to his doorstep — some in genuine hope, others with sinister motives. As his wealth and social status soar, Apurba begins to lose touch with his moral compass, confusing luxury with happiness and ambition with greed.
“Ichchepuran tells the story of a simple agent, Apurba, who struggles every day to meet his daily target. His life and joy revolve around his family and their basic necessities. The series takes an interesting turn when Apurba finds a magic stone, which becomes a lucky charm in his life but with a hefty price, which makes Apurba question his own choices and throws him into a situation where he has to choose between his own values and the reality of life. In this new web series, all the characters have been minutely selected, and we hope we will be able to bring a unique story for the viewers,” said director Haranath Chakraborty.
“In Ichchepuran, the audience will see me in the character of Apurba, who is a dedicated family man and his priority lies in meeting the basic needs of his family. Life gives him a unique chance and that transforms his destiny. But the result he sees makes him stand in despair, unable to find ways to overcome the difficulty. Ichchepuran is a very uncommon story and after a long time, the viewers will witness something really interesting and rare,” said actor Debraj Bhattacharya.
Ichchepuran is a tale about the duality of desire and consequence, and the fragility of human values in the face of temptation. “I play a diligent wife and a mother. Her sole concern is the welfare of her family. The changing circumstances around her put her in a situation where her family life becomes painful and she sees a painful transformation in the man she loves,” said Ishani Sengupta.
