The anticipation surrounding Bangla Zee5’s action thriller Taarkata received a musical boost this week with the unveiling of its signature track, Bheshe jai, at a special event held at Vivanta. Bringing together the cast and crew of the series, the launch offered audiences a first taste of the world of Taarkata through a song that is as spirited, eccentric and intriguing as the series itself.

Penned and composed by Soumit Deb, Bheshe jai instantly strikes a chord with its infectious energy and contemporary sound. The track has been produced by Kuntal De, popularly known as GJ Storm, who has also handled the guitar, programming and overall arrangements. The production feels polished and dynamic, balancing catchy melodies with a rhythmic pulse that keeps the listener engaged throughout. The vocals by Koushik Chakraborty and Kuntal De complement the song’s lively character, delivering the lyrics with conviction and charm.

One of the standout elements of Bheshe jai is its lyrics. Quirky, playful and “highly” relatable, they capture the emotional undercurrents of everyday life while retaining a sense of whimsy. The words perfectly echo the unconventional spirit of Taarkata, hinting at a narrative that is layered with mystery, humour and emotional complexity. The song’s upbeat nature ensures that it remains memorable long after the first listen.

Adding to its appeal is the visually distinctive graphic treatment of the music video. Designed in a comic book-inspired style, it cleverly transforms the real-life characters of the series into comic-book avatars. The vibrant visuals not only lend the song a unique identity but also reflect the offbeat tone that director Samik Roy Choudhury appears to have infused into the series. The result is a creative blend of music and imagery that feels fresh and contemporary.

Bheshe jai perfectly captures the spirit of Taarkata — quirky, emotional and wonderfully unpredictable. One of the biggest strengths of the song is its lyrics, which have been written by Soumit Deb. Soumit has also penned the dialogues of the series and has done a brilliant job in both departments. The words are highly relatable and bring out the essence of the characters and their journey. Music has always been an important part of storytelling, and this track beautifully sets the tone for what audiences can expect from the series,” said Vikram Chatterjee.

Directed by Roy Choudhury, Taarkata follows Agni, a former police officer who returns to his hometown to investigate a mysterious death, only to find himself confronting a troubled past he had hoped to leave behind.

The series boasts a strong ensemble cast led by Vikram Chatterjee as Agni and Priyanka Sarkar as Chhanda. Joining them are Meiyang Chang, making his debut in a Bengali project as Dodo, Joydip Mukherjee as Ashok Chowdhury, Satyam Bhattacharya as Bumba Bagchi and Ayush Das as Tintin. As a signature track, Bheshe jai succeeds in generating excitement for Taarkata, which is now streaming on Bangla Zee5.
