The KLIKK series Jaisalmer Jomjomat, directed by Riingo, follows a Bengali family who embark on a trip to Jaisalmer, inspired by Sonar Kella. Rajat Babu, a bank manager, is eager to explore the mysterious Mukul Baari within the golden fort. His wife, daughter, and young son are travelling with him. Their vacation takes a dark turn when a drug package goes missing, and they find themselves embroiled in turmoil and targeted by a dangerous cartel. As the family fights to survive the sinister designs, secrets unravel, and love faces its toughest challenge. The team recently got together for the trailer launch of the series, which stars Sabyasachi Chowdhury, Meghla Dasgupta, Abhishek Singh, Devtanu, Amrita Debnath, Debasish Nath, Shahir Raj, Moumita Paul, Rajdeep Pal and more. The series streams from May 26.

“We are rather overwhelmed with the incredible reactions to the trailer launch. The event was mounted on a big scale at The Flamboyant. This series is all about riding through an adventure in the golden city of Jaisalmer with thrills and action that a happy family experiences, as they become a target of the drug cartel operating beyond the borders of India. I would urge audiences to enjoy Jaisalmer this summer with all the thrills and the chills of a lifetime adventure. The journey has just begun and already feels pulsating,” said Riingo.

The series, adds Riingo, was shot exactly in the spots where Satyajit Ray shot his film. “And most brilliantly, everything looks still the same as it did in the film. We lived inside the Kella, and the best part was that we met the owners of the hotel who hosted Ray, and they offered us to reside in the same place during the shoot. We used special lenses to capture the epic and we graded it in a very niche palette of golden limestone so that the locale can be captured in its truest of colours,” said Riingo.

“It was a grand event with a big turnout. The trailer has raised considerable intrigue. The audience can expect a fresh perspective. Nostalgic or not, Jaisalmer Jomjomat will be a good watch this summer. My character has a couple of shades in the series, the first part quite represents me, while the second part is evidently different. The role was quite challenging, keeping in mind the off-terrain, nippy weather and other circumstances. The golden fort of Jaisalmer is my all-time favourite spot for vacation. I have travelled there before on my motorcycle, all the way from my hometown. But little did I know that after three years, I would be getting back there for a stretch of 16 days. It was exhilarating to shoot on the rooftops of Sonar Kella at 3am,” said Sabyasachi.

“The trailer launch was quite a remarkable occasion for me. Everyone is now waiting with bated breath for the series to release. Jaisalmer Jomjomat brings the magic back to the screen. The pull of Sonar Kella has been a constant since childhood. It’s more than a story...the idea for Jaisalmer Jomjomat felt less like a choice and more like a calling. The days of shooting were really challenging. Standing exactly where Ray stood, finding Mukul’s house, revisiting the spot at Mehrangarh Fort... it was incredibly nostalgic, almost eerie how little had changed. The aerial shots of the Kella felt like fulfilling a personal dream. We even ended up staying in the very hotel that hosted Ray, thanks to the owners who remembered him. That connection to the past was profound,” said Ohendrila Banerjee, producer, Ring a Bell Films.

“This launch event gave us an added opportunity to reunite with the whole cast and crew again. We hope audiences will like the series and give us immense love. We all share an eternal bond with Sonar Kella, and we have tried our best to evoke the same nostalgic feeling among the viewers,” said Devtanu.
