The premiere of Sayantan Ghosal’s murder mystery Madam Sengupta was held at PVR-INOX, South City, recently. It was attended by the cast, crew, and other actors from the Bengali film industry. Based on Sukumar Ray’s Abol Tabol, the film tells the story of an undaunted woman seeking justice for her daughter, who has been killed. In addition to exploring Ray’s work from an intellectual perspective, writer Sougata Basu delves into themes of separation, revenge, criminal psychology, and motherhood as he unfolds the narrative of Madam Sengupta through various characters portrayed by an ensemble cast.
Ananya Chatterjee turned up subtle glam. “Who is not fascinated by Abol Tabol? We grew up reading Sukumar Ray. It was great working with the cast,” said Ananya.
