The music launch of Arjunn Dutta’s upcoming film Deep Fridge took place recently in a warm and vibrant gathering. All the audio tracks of the film were officially unveiled, marking an exciting musical milestone for the team and offering audiences a first taste of the film’s emotional depth and atmospheric soundscape.
The highlight of the evening was the release of the video song, Jash na chole (piano version), soulfully rendered by Portia Sen, with music and lyrics by Soumya Rit. The track beautifully weaves melody and emotion, offering a heartfelt glimpse into the world of Deep Fridge. The event saw the presence of the film’s cast, crew, and several industry guests. It was a celebration of music, creativity, and the collaborative spirit behind the project — marking yet another memorable step toward the film’s release. Deep Fridge stars Abir Chatterjee, Tnusree, Anuradha Mukherjee, Debjani Chatterjee and Shoaib Kabeer.
“The music of Deep Fridge is an extremely heartfelt collaboration with my music director and lyricist Soumya Rit. His poignant lyrics and soulful composition perfectly capture the film’s essence. The album has four songs including a classical-based number and a sweet sorrow-filled melody. Portia, Mekhla and Kajol’s vocals bring the songs to life with emotion and depth. The music echoes the longing and distance between loved ones, resonating deeply with the film’s narrative. It’s a beautiful blend of melody and emotion that will touch your heart and stay with you long after the film ends,” said Arjunn Dutta.
Deep Fridge, which won the National Award for Best Bengali Film, chronicles the journey of Swarnava (Abir Chatterjee) and Mili (Tnusree). Swarnava is a sought-after economist whose fiscal and analytical articles are taken very seriously. He is a man of few words, extremely chivalrous and has a good sense of humour. He loves his son Tatai immensely. Mili is an HR manager in a reputed MNC. She is an extremely responsible woman and a natural caregiver whose world revolves around her son.
“The music of Deep Fridge supports the mood, the characters, and their internal states. Every piece of music exists for the sake of the film and its screenplay. The songs explore internal emotional fractures and relational distance. As the lyricist and composer, I tried to align the music closely with the film’s thematic core — choosing emotional restraint over musical flamboyance. Instead of striving for big blockbuster numbers, the approach is subtle and introspective. The piano version of Jash na chole, for instance, reflects this minimalistic instrumentation. They create an intimate space, which is a fitting match for a film that deals with the unspoken tensions between people,” said music director Soumya Rit.
Deep Fridge stands out as a powerful exploration of emotional repression, domestic silence, and the fragility of human relationships. The film, marked by its layered storytelling and restrained performances, has resonated strongly with both audiences and critics.
