Most homes deal with frequent small messes. In such situations, a cordless stick vacuum could be your dream cleaning partner. Given that we’re in the Diwali season, there have already been enough chances to put a new review device to work — the Dreame R10 Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum. In suction, airflow, and cleaning power, the R10 Pro rivals pricier options, such as the Dyson V8 Absolute. It comes with enough brushes and attachments to ensure your apartment remains spotless. But can it handle messy, thick carpets?

Aiming for suck-cess

The box is crammed with attachments — a multi-surface brush like the R10, plus a new one for hardwood floors. There’s also a motorised upholstery brush, a telescopic crevice tool with a narrow nozzle, a two-in-one nozzle with a wide mouth, and an extension tube. It’s a top-notch accessory kit. You don’t often see a vacuum that includes separate brushes for carpets and hard floors.

Specs are rather good too. There’s stronger suction than before and a bigger battery boasting 150AW suction power.

The battery capacity stands at 3,000mAh, offering a maximum runtime of 65 minutes. Here’s the deal: it all depends not just on your apartment’s size but also on the mode you’re using. In low-suction mode, expect 60–65 minutes, but crank it to high and the time drops sharply. Charging takes about 3.5 hours. Given Indian household conditions, most of us will settle for “mid mode”, which gives around 35–40 minutes, enough for a large apartment.

The five-layer filtration system captures fine dust and particles and keeps them away from the air with a filtration efficiency of up to 99.9 per cent

The design mirrors the regular R10, with a vertical dustbin and a well-balanced handle. That’s one of its biggest wins — the balance is spot-on and won’t leave your wrist aching.

The matte-black finish looks solid straight out of the box and, even after a week’s use, shows no scratches. Whether it stays that way long term is anyone’s guess. After use, give it a quick wipe to keep the shine. The filtration system includes a skirted separator, metal mesh, micro-cyclones, a fabric membrane, and a filter; most dust doesn’t make it past the pre-filters.

Emptying the dustbin is a breeze — press a button and voilà. You can also take it apart for a full clean. The entire machine follows a wonderful plug-and-play approach with everything clicking neatly into place. Another neat touch is the lock on the handle; press it once and forget about constantly working the trigger.

That said, one gripe remains: There’s no display. It would’ve been handy to see battery life or dust readings. To gauge how much juice you’ve got left, keep an eye on the indicator on the handle.

A clean sweep

The main brush is hefty with a front bumper. It pivots nicely and has mid-sized wheels for light carpets. Its standout feature is the sliding gate — open it for large debris. The roller mixes stiff and soft bristles, while small comb teeth near the air channel ensure most dirt doesn’t stand a chance. When it comes to stray hair, tangling is rare.

The hardwood-floor brush is light and compact. Since the roller is fully exposed, it’s great for cleaning along baseboards. Instead of large wheels, it relies on one wide support roller and two smaller ones placed behind the suction opening.

The upholstery brush, with its swivel frame and finned roller, is another helpful tool. Overall, the plastic quality feels better than most mid-range vacuum devices.

The max suction power is above the industry average, while the low-power mode performs on par with rivals. In mid and high power, flour, coffee powder or spices vanish from carpets in seconds. Attachments reach right up to the wall, and even corners come out spotless. For particularly messy zones, a second pass might be needed.

On thick carpets, two passes will lift fine debris with ease. It cleans deep down, the roller stays tangle-free, and the comb teeth handle pet hair like pros. To keep your home spotless, use the crevice tool for tricky corners. The upholstery tool does a modest yet honest job on sofas where a pet cat may have claimed her throne.

Make the call

Cordless stick vacuums are versatile marvels that change configurations with the help of handy attachments. Like most cordless vacs, this one is comfortable to handle even in cramped spaces or on stairs. Being compact, it’s easy to store within arm’s reach — and even looks good left in plain sight.

The attachments that come with Dreame R10 Pro

Of course, even the priciest stick vacuum struggles to match the brute suction of a good upright or canister model. Still, it’s got enough battery life to clean at least two rooms.

Overall, the Dreame R10 Pro offers powerful suction and airflow, excelling at picking up dust and debris on both bare floors and rugs. The dustbin is large enough to hold all the grime your apartment collects daily — and it’s simple to clean. Efficient and feather-light, the Dreame R10 Pro wins hearts for its manoeuvrability, power, and price.
