Videos made using the Google Veo 3 tool are showing up more than ever before, pushing the boundaries of imagination. Then there is Flow, with which you can use things like text-to-video and image-to-video prompts to build eight-second AI-generated clips. What happens when Veo 3 in Gemini and Flow are combined? That is exactly what the ‘Imagine with Shakun Batra X Google Gemini’ series aims to achieve.
The cinematic experiment will be directed by the man behind hits such as Gehraiyaan and Searching for Sheela, in collaboration with Google. Batra’s five-part series will explore how AI can be a creative partner in filmmaking.
He and his team will be using Veo 3 in Gemini and Flow over the coming months, experimenting with AI-powered cinematic sequences across genres, from action and drama to sci-fi and comedy.
Veo 3 became an instant hit after it was released at Google I/O, partially because of the fact that it can create sound, synchronised to a scene’s action. Flow is being billed as a storytelling aid “built with creatives” or an advanced version of VideoFX, previously a Google Labs experiment. It can help storytellers to explore ideas and create clips and scenes, akin to storyboards and sketches in motion.
Using Gemini’s natural language skills, one can give birth to videos, while creatives can pull in their assets or create things with Imagen through simple text input. Everything together, there is a high level of consistency.
Flow comes with a number of features for filmmakers, like camera controls to master your shot with direct control over camera motion, angles and perspectives. Scenebuilder allows you to edit and extend existing shots, helping transition to what happens next with continuous motion and consistent characters. Asset management organises all of your “ingredients and prompts”. Then there is Flow TV to give creativity a boost with an ever-growing showcase of clips, channels, and content generated with Veo.
