Charli XCX is on a gothic-pop rampage, and honestly, we’re all just happy passengers on her wild, wind-swept ride. Last week, she dropped House and Chains of Love, the first two tracks from her soundtrack for the upcoming Wuthering Heights film adaptation — and let’s just say, Emily Brontë would be head-banging in approval. Within seven days, Chains of Love alone has stormed its way to nearly six million streams on Spotify, proving that Charli’s ability to turn emotional chaos into streaming gold remains undefeated.

The music video, directed by the ever-inventive C Prinz, looks like a Victorian séance gone rogue. Charli performs in a vast, empty dining hall, the kind where you’d expect ghosts of dramatic lovers past to argue about betrayal and broken hearts. Instead, Charli faces off against an invisible force that hurls cutlery and candlesticks like it’s auditioning for a paranormal cooking show. Then comes the showstopper: the massive dining table levitates, Charli stomps through a glass one like a wrathful pop deity, and shards rain down in a glamorous storm of catharsis. It’s chaos, it’s theatre, it’s Charli XCX at her most deliciously unhinged.

Chains of Love arrived barely a breath after her haunting single House, created with John Cale, and both tracks are part of the Wuthering Heights companion album crafted with Finn Keane and Justin Raisen. With Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi set to star in the film arriving on February 14, 2026, the soundtrack releases a day earlier, ready to break hearts ahead of the movie. Though not exactly a traditional solo album, the Wuthering Heights project marks Charli’s first major outing since her 2024 smash Brat. And if these first two tracks are any indication, she’s about to redefine dramatic pop all over again.
