After garnering huge praise and appreciation from the audience and breaking many box office records, the blockbuster film Bohurupi is set to have its world television premiere on June 22 on Zee Bangla at 8.30pm. Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s film Bohurupi — starring Abir Chatterjee, Shiboprosad, Koushani Mukherjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty — provided a perfect blend of action and thrills as a cop and a robber were pitted against each other. The storyline is based on real events that spanned from 1999 to 2005. Bohurupi was full of all the components necessary to construct a successful, commercial action entertainer — the fascinating juxtaposition of action and romantic scenes, witty and weighty dialogues, the element of disguise and deception, a picturesque rural setting, and an eclectic mix of modern and folk songs.

"Bohurupi did record-breaking business in cinema halls. In the history of Bengali cinema, Bohurupi stands out as one of the most-watched films. We have received immense love, honour, and good wishes from the audience — they truly embraced the film. The kind of success Bohurupi achieved, especially in national multiplexes, was beyond our expectations. There are still many people who are eagerly waiting to relive the experience with their families. There are several regions in Bengal where cinema halls are not easily accessible, and for those viewers, this telecast is a wonderful chance to watch Bohurupi. Even people living abroad, who haven’t been able to see the film yet, are eagerly waiting for this moment. After watching Bohurupi, many said it brought back the essence of classic Bengali cinema, which seemed lost," said Shiboprosad Mukherjee.

"While the film has already enjoyed a successful run at the box office —garnering praise both in West Bengal and overseas — it’s important to acknowledge that a significant section of the audience still prefers to watch films on television. And Zee Bangla, being one of the most widely watched Bengali channels, is the perfect platform to take Bohurupi into countless homes across the state and beyond. Wherever the film has been screened — be it in India or abroad — it has received an overwhelming response, both critically and commercially. We even had houseful shows overseas. While I truly believe that cinema is best experienced on the big screen, I’m equally thrilled that the television premiere will give many more people a chance to finally connect with Bohurupi. I look forward to hearing from audiences as they experience the film in their living rooms. I genuinely believe Bohurupi will strike a chord with viewers once again and find a new wave of appreciation through its television debut," said Abir Chatterjee.

"We are especially proud that Bohurupi will premiere on Zee Bangla, a channel that has always championed the spirit of Bangaliana. We share a long-standing connection with Zee Bangla, and it’s the perfect platform to bring this story into every home. So let’s all tune in to Zee Bangla and celebrate Bohurupi together," said Shiboprosad.
