How often do you see an artiste leaving the main stage to return to the console to connect with fans standing behind it? How often do you see an artiste introducing himself to the audience even when the venue is packed, everyone waiting to see him? How often do you see an artiste speaking about his struggles and tough times between performances? Singer-songwriter Anuv Jain did all of that during his Dastakhat World Tour concert at Gold Acres, PC Chandra Garden. From the moment he took the stage, the atmosphere transformed into something soothing, as the connection between the singer and the audience grew stronger through a setlist comprising hits such as Baarishein, Alag aasmaan, Husn, Jo tum mere ho, Afsos and Arz kiya hai.
The venue echoed with stories of love, heartbreak and healing, turning the night into a deeply personal experience for fans across generations. The India leg of the tour was presented by Team Innovation and Tribe Vibe, with What’s In D Name Live! co-organising the Calcutta gig.
t2 caught up with the singer, who spoke about his 2026 plans, making his tour a priority and his current favourite film. Excerpts.
Last year was a milestone for you, with so many hits and, of course, tying the knot. What are you manifesting in 2026?
2025 was such a landmark year for me, and I will be talking about it for a very long time, not just because of personal milestones, but also because of the numbers we did with all these songs, and then, of course, the wedding. It was pretty crazy.

Now, in 2026, it’s all about the tour... this world tour. At the moment, we are in India and halfway through the India leg. Then we take a break for a month before performing across the world, which is incredible. This is pretty much what my year will look like, and I hope all these cities are amazing and I get to meet wonderful people as I travel across the globe.
In between, whenever I get the time, I’d love to sit down and keep making more music. Let’s see if I can put out more this year; I already have a couple of things planned.
Performing for fans is always special for an artiste, but what makes the Dastakhat tour special for you?
Just performing with the band has been insane... this is a first for me. I have never really performed properly with a band before, so this has been an incredible experience.
You are always looking to improve yourself and learn more. Is there any skill or activity you want to try this year?
I have always been eager to learn. In fact, I have finally started taking vocal lessons and coaching, and I am loving it so far. I will probably focus on improving my voice as much as possible, learning how to maintain it, and then maybe pick up another instrument.

What can fans expect in terms of new releases?
This year, my focus is on the tour, but like I said, I have a couple of things planned. I really hope I get the time to sit down and work on them. I feel these will be some beautiful songs that I have created. Let’s see how it works out; the tour is my priority.
You have a huge fan base at a young age. It’s easy to get carried away, but what has kept you grounded?
I have always maintained that I absolutely love the people who listen to my music. I have struggled a lot in life and have truly come from nothing, building my own path. We created all of this ourselves... building a little community that we now perform for.
This keeps me grounded because I have seen the lowest of lows, and when I was at my lowest, the people who lifted me up were the ones who listened to my music. That was my team, my family... the people I work with. I love them so much.

The group picture featuring you, Aditya Roy Kapur and Yungblud went viral. What did you talk about?
I happened to be there, and it was a fun night. I spoke a lot with Aditya because we go to the same gym. He was telling me about his acting journey and how he is into music as well, and was trying to understand what I have been doing with my show. With Dom (Dominic Richard Harrison) — that’s Yungblud — I told him how much I like his music, especially some of the songs I’ve heard, like Zombie, which is literally going to be one of the most played songs this year. He was asking me about who I am, so we introduced ourselves. I was standing there watching him do his thing — he was dancing throughout the night, which was a lot of fun.
You turned 30 last year. Is there any advice you would give to your 20-year-old self?
I would probably say: “Don’t change” (laughs). “Keep doing what you’re doing, because that’s what led me here. Keep at it, man; you’re doing a great job!”
