Football Delhi has written a letter to the executive committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), requesting it to ask Fifa for initiating a process to form a normalisation committee which will look after the daily activities of the federation.

Such committees are appointed by Fifa when it feels that governance of the game at the domestic level has broken down.

The moves comes days after its president, Shaji Prabhakaran, wrote a letter requesting AIFF president Praful Patel to ask Fifa to form a normalisation committee in India. AIFF secretary Kushal Das had termed Prabhakaran’s suggestion as preposterous.

“Delhi, being the founder member of the AIFF, makes a sincere appeal to the executive committee of the AIFF to urgently contact Fifa administration to visit India for initiating the process to place a normalisation committee in India as the executive committee of Football Delhi considers it is an appropriate step in the best interests of Indian football and the AIFF.

“Further, the growing criticism in this case is also impacting our work at the state level and based on our experiences, we can anticipate sooner or later an intervention from the court, with a possible appointment of an administrator,” the letter says.

Football Delhi has also asked other associations to support the demand.
