Jasprit Bumrah is not just a fast bowler, he is a vast bowler.

The vastness of his skills and variety was once again on show on Thursday, when he returned figures of 5/21 in four overs even when the opposition scored 190-plus in 20 overs.

What goes into being a Bumrah?

“In this format, it is anyway very harsh on the bowlers, so you need to have different skills... Can’t be a one-trick pony. I have worked on this early in my career. I have trained to have different skills,” the speedster said after collecting his Man of the Match award.

Offering a peek into his thought process and preparation, Bumrah added: “Bowling is tough because you will have to take a beating. Whenever I’ve had bad days, I’ve watched videos the next day to see what didn’t work, why it didn’t work... You bowl to batters in the nets who hit big sixes, find out how you react to pressure. And then when you’re in the middle facing the same pressure, you’ll have the answers.”

His tip to other bowlers? “You don’t need to use all tricks on one day. There’s no ego in this format. Even if you can bowl 145kph, if the wicket demands slower balls, then you’ll have to bowl slower balls.”
