Defending champions Peerless SC thrashed Kidderpore SC 4-1 in a CFL Premier Division A match at the Mohun Bagan ground, as the football season kicked off after a gap of a year on Tuesday.
Kidderpore drew first blood through Emmanuel. But Pankaj Moula, Mohammed Aftab Alam, and Ansumana Kromah (2) scored to ensure victory for Peerless.
ATK Mohun Bagan or SC East Bengal haven’t confirmed participation, but the IFA remains hopeful. East Bengal are yet to sign the final agreement with investor Shree Cement Limited and ATK Mohun Bagan are currently playing in the AFC Cup.
