Youth commits suicide after returning from Bangalore

Villagers started disgracing him by calling him a 'carrier of the virus' inspite of being tested negative

A youth from Baksa district allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday after villagers ostracised him as a “carrier of the virus”.

Filip Munda, in his late twenties, a resident of Bisarpur under Borbari police station, had returned from Bangalore, where he worked in a private company, on March 17.

He had undergone two medical check-ups at a government hospital in Mushalpur where he tested negative for the novel coronavirus but kept himself in home quarantine.

However, villagers started disgracing him and he allegedly committed suicide at his residence on Wednesday. Police retrieved his body and sent for post-mortem and are investigating the matter.
