Former public works department minister and deputy Opposition leader Badal Choudhury on Monday said the Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizen and National Population Register will be the main factors behind Prime Narendra Modi’s ouster from power.

Addressing a rally, organised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India and the Tripura Youth Federation at Belonia sub-division of South district, Choudhury said, “In-dia is a secular country. By implementing CAA, the Centre is trying to divide the country on religious lines. The CAA, NRC, and NPR will cause Modi’s ouster from power.”

“The Act is an assault on the Constitution. Modi and home minister Amit Shah are trying to drive out all minorities from the country. The Act is dangerous. People should protest against the destructive law,” he added.

Choudhury was arrested on October 21 last year over alleged irregularities in his department in 2008-09. He is out on bail.
