For Teachers’ Day, Kolkata police felicitate the elderly

There are around 138 million people aged 60 and above in the country, as per the National Statistical Office (NSO)’s Elderly in India 2021 report and Kolkata reportedly has the maximum percentage of senior citizens among the metro cities in India

A 24-hour helpline caters to over 16,000 senior citizen members of Pronam. After the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the initiative has become more meaningful than ever
