Onam in Kerala is celebrated with great pomp and grandeur, bringing friends and family together. On the final day of the 10-day festival, Kolkata businessman Rajeev Nair, originally from Kerala’s Kottayam shares with The Telegraph Online a glimpse into his family’s celebrations and traditions back home

The family relished a grand ‘sadya’ spread served traditionally on a banana leaf. The feast included dishes like Avial, Olan, Pachadi, Payasam and more
Both the immediate and extended family members got together for Onam to enjoy together. Rajeev Nair’s daughter Malavika said, ‘We ordered the Sadya this time from a catering service because the get-together was grand this time. Otherwise, usually, it is cooked at home”
The day was fun-filled for all as the family participated in games and dance. The women performed the Thiruvathirakali, a traditional dance form of Kerala
