Travel buffs, pack your bags.

Governor Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate a three-day exhibition on the prospects of travel and tourism in Jharkhand on Friday.

This was announced to the media on Thursday at a hotel here at an event organised by Calcutta based Travel & Tourism Bazaar in association with the tourism departments of Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bengal, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, the ministry of tourism and culture and some other companies.

Deputy general manager of Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation Alok Kumar who was at the news meet, along with the director of Travel & Tourism Bazaar Amit Biswas said the exhibition would boost the prospects of tourism in Jharkhand as well as give people information on tourist attractions of other states.

“The tourism departments of various states will set up their stalls for people to get comprehensive information about various tourist destinations. The exhibition will be open for all. We have also invited representatives of tour and travel companies to help people plan their trips better and within their budget,” said Biswas.

On Friday, a panel discussion will be held in the evening where delegates from all states and travel and tourism companies would share ideas on how to develop tourism.

On Saturday, visiting delegates will be taken to visit selected tourist destinations near Ranchi, such as Patratu Dam. The same evening, a panel discussion will be held to discuss how to develop tourism industry in Jharkhand, with special focus “on the state’s craft tourism and its significance in edifying attractive home stays for tourist”. On Sunday, the last day, mementos will be given.

“Jharkhand is blessed with scenic beauty and historical monuments. The government has paid special attention to develop infrastructure to attract tourists across the country,” said Kumar.
