Four stations — Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela and Jharsuguda — under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway (SER) have been conferred with the coveted ISO 14001:2015 certification for providing environment-friendly passenger amenities and allied services.

Ranchi, Digha, Adra, Bankura, Bishnupur, Purulia and Bokaro Steel City stations have got the certification.

Chief public relations officer of SER Sanjay Ghosh said: “Various actions have been initiated to develop eco-friendly measures at the four stations, including Tatanagar, which witnesses the largest number of footfall under Chakradharpur division. Collection and segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes are carried out regularly. The ISO survey team was impressed with the measures taken by us,” said Ghosh.
