Movement of trains in Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway will be affected for two days from Sunday owing to a traffic-cum-power block in Khurda Road division of East Coast Railway.

The railway block will be enforced to facilitate commissioning of a new limited-height subway in place of an unmanned level crossing.

A circular issued by the Garden Reach headquarters of South Eastern Railway announced cancellation of several trains, including Puri-Barbil Express and Barbil-Chakradharpur Intercity Express on December 23. Two trains — Barbil-Puri Express and Chakradharpur-Barbil Intercity Express — will remain cancelled on December 24.

The Howrah-Puri Dhauli Express will be rescheduled from Howrah. Instead of 6am, the train will leave Howrah at 8am. Railway officials said a couple of other trains from Howrah would also be rescheduled. “We will bring out a notification in this regard tomorrow (Saturday),” said an official.

Officials informed that a block would also be carried out at Tatanagar station on Sunday for dismantling of the old abandoned overbridge.

“We will get a final schedule from Chakradharpur tomorrow (Saturday). Movement of a few passenger and goods train will be affected during the block, which will stretch for two hours in the afternoon,” said an official at Tatanagar.
