Legal fraternity takes note of mines accident; rolls out mobile chariot for awareness

Repeated incidents of mines mishap during illegal mining have jolted the legal fraternity.

Concerned over the situation District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Dhanbad at the instruction of Justice Apresh Kumar Singh executive chairman of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) rolled out an awareness chariot today which will visit different mining areas of the district apprising common people about the ill effects of illegal mining.

The chariot titled, Mobile Lok Adalat cum Legal Awareness Van which was fagged off by Ram Sharma, Principal District and Session judge of Dhanbad under the justice on wheels project in presence of host of dignitaries, including Nitasha Barla, Additional District and Session judge will also make people aware about different government welfare scheme.

Notably, the DLSA has earlier taken cognizance of the mines mishap that took place in Gopinathpur Colliery in Nirsa on February 1 in illegal mines where five persons were killed and also assured to extend financial assistance to victim families.

Talking to media after flagging of the mobile chariot, Ram Sharma who is also the Chairman of District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) said “The Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) taking cognizance of the recent incident of mines mishap in the Durijor area of Nirsa during which several persons were trapped on April 21, sent a mobile lok Adalat cum Legal Awareness van which will visit different parts of district until May 31 beginning from today and make people aware about the disadvantages of indulging in unsafe mining activities.

Nitasha Barla, Additional District and Session Judge of Dhanbad who is also the secretary of District Legal Services Authority said, “The Executive Chairman of JHALSA, Apresh Kumar Singh has taken a serious note of the recent incident and mobile lok adalat cum legal awareness has been sent in the district as his instruction which will visit to different and panel lawyers of DLSA as well as Para Legal Volunteers on board the van will apprise the residents of mining aware about different aspects of unsafe mining.

The van which visited Chirkunda area on Tuesday will visit Panchmohli Panchayat on April 27, Kaliasol between April 28-30, Nirsa Block from May 2-4, different panchayats of Baliapur block between May 5 to May 7, Govindpur area from May 9-11, Baghmara block from May 12 to 16, Tundi Block between May 17 to 18, Purbi Tundi block between May 19 -20, Topchanchi block of May 21, Dhanbad block.
