Four Covid-19 patients have recovered after treatment at RIMS, state health minister Banna Gupta tweeted on Monday, and four news cases were confirmed.

Among the four who have recovered is the 22-year-old Malaysian woman who was the first person to test positive in Jharkhand. Two others are from Hazaribagh and one from Simdega.

In his tweet, Gupta congratulated the doctors and said the news would bring relief to the state.

Health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni said the four tested negative for the novel coronavirus twice. “Now they will be discharged,” he said.

There are 6,000 suspected Covid-19 cases who have been kept in isolation, while 98,000 people have been kept under home quarantine, according to government data.

Now that the Malaysian woman has recovered, the district administration has started planning where to keep her as she is one of the 17 foreigners against whom an FIR has been registered at Hindpiri police station under Section 188 (disobedience of order promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection), 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 271 (knowingly disobeying any rule for ensuring quarantine) of the IPC besides sections of the Foreigners' Act and the Disaster Management Act.

Contacted for comment, Ranchi deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray said: “Discussion regarding this is on.”

A police official, who requested anonymity, said: “Most likely she will be kept at the quarantine centre at Khelgaon under police custody as 16 other foreigners who were detained along with her are also there.”

The total number of novel coronavirus-positive cases in Jharkhand climbed to 45 on Monday from 41 on Sunday.
